Well, it arrived yesterday morning and it's beauty and perfection.
I started off with some Half Life 2 which... Was fine at first with most settings high including the resolution. But once the train partition kicked in the frames went stupid. About 20+ so I thought, OK, maybe over doing it, seeing how I'm not overclocking the GFX card (can't anyway, the CD Key supplied with the software doesn't work.)
So, I changed the settings and the game pretty much just kept on freezing so I was kinda pissed that the GFX card that was to make my Half Life 2 look pretty wasn't exactly doing a fab job.
So, I decided to bust on some Doom 3. 800x resolution and bump mapping on and realistic shadows on. FPS is awesome. More than DOUBLE my last card was pumping with lower settings. Dips to around 20-30 in large areas, but I head that top notch PC's have dips with Doom 3 to poor frames in areas. It's something of an odd game for resources.
But, beefed up the settings, anti aliasing at 8x realistic shadows the whole shebang. Pretty much ran at the same top notch speeds.
So, ran Half Life 2 again and it actually seemed to smooth out and runs at a consistant 40-50 frames in most areas. In large areas it has a bit of a stall to around 25-30 FPS and then creeps over the mark. But, it still keeps on freezing, which according to my resources isn't a graphics card error. But the freezing is really calming down and happens here or there. Nothing experience denting. Game still looks fab.
So, yeah. And CS source runs sweet and looks it too. Hello 32 player servers
